Full course description

A systematic approach to environmental management and compliance is essential for manufacturing and many other organizations today. Regulatory and compliance issues are more important today than at any time in our history. ISO 14001 is the International Environmental Management System (EMS) standard that will enable you to bring structure and cohesiveness to your environmental management processes. Understanding ISO 14001:2015 is for anyone in engineering, technical, leadership or management positions. It can be especially beneficial to those who are responsible for environmental management or compliance and process improvement. Understanding ISO 14001:2015 is an overview course that will give the participant a general understanding of the requirements of the standard and provide insights into applying the principles of environmental management to their business. The participants will also learn how the registration process works to help them in the journey towards an ISO 14001 registered quality system. For those already registered to ISO 14001:2004, this course will provide information essential for the transition to the 2015 revision. The international environmental management system standard, ISO 14001:2015, is the basis for an effective EMS for any business. This standard is recognized worldwide and provides businesses with a ‘road map’ for a system that can be tailored to their business. When the EMS is assessed and approved (registered) by an accredited third party, the market place has more confidence in the company as a supplier and it indicates a commitment to the environment and environmental performance. Your EMS should be the way ‘the work gets done’; be easy to maintain; be user friendly; and provide significant internal benefits. The instructor for Understanding ISO 14001:2015 has over three decades of real world experience with clients on 3 continents and in 35 states. He uses a practical approach based on experience, research and education. He has been providing guidance and assistance to companies implementing ISO 14001 quality systems since the original standard was approved. He is a member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) 176 which assists in formulating the U.S. position to the International Organization for Standards (ISO) on the ISO 9000 family of quality management standards.
