V13J_26- Reinforced Concrete Design: Axial Compression and Bending
Time limit: 365 days
2 credits
Full course description
This course is the third in a series on the topic of reinforced concrete design following the American Concrete Institute's Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete (ACI 318-11). The first two courses are not prerequisites for this course. Fundamentals of column design are presented. This course focuses on the capacity of columns without slenderness effects. Reinforced Concrete Design: Axial Compression and Bending
Discussion and examples illustrate the behavior, principles, and calculations necessary to
1. Use an axial load - moment, Pn - Mn, interaction diagram to evaluate the safety of a column cross section
2. Calculate points on the Pn - Mn interaction diagram
3. Determine appropriate strength reduction factor, ?
4. Determine the shear capacity of a column cross section
5. Evaluate the capacity of a column cross section under biaxial bendingPractical tips related to each area of the standard
